Hello and welcome to our very first Continuity Challenge!

What are continuity challenges? We are putting a fun twist on business continuity plans by pitching exaggerated and somewhat outlandish scenarios and tapping into your collective brain power to see how you would prepare for them. By participating, you’re likely to gain big points, win unique Secured badges, and increase your chance to net some awesome Swag.

For those not as familiar with what a business continuity plan is, essentially the goal is to develop contingency plans in the event of something occurring that could disrupt your capabilities to deliver your products or services. This is usually developed based on risks in your geographic area, those impacting your line of business, the economy, health factors, and many other timely events.

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to detail how you’d keep your company running in the following scenario: An alien invasion 🛸

It was a cold and stormy night…

The summer here is, your team is often at least one person down each week for various vacations, and you are gearing up for a relaxing weekend. Your phone buzzes and you ignore it, knowing you’ll check it in a short while and the bat phone usually rings if there is an emergency. Another buzz. And another! Something is amiss.

You pick up your phone and see a dozen notifications about several UFOs spotted across major cities (and in clear 4K video, too). You pop open YouTube and see a live feed of UFOs circling an office build with a short caption that says [Insert your company here].

And just like that, your weekend plans have been squashed. Though many people don’t visit the office until Monday, you still need to be prepared for how to respond, because certainly you can’t risk your team entering a building with a UFO circling it.

How should you proceed to keep things moving from a technological and security perspective?
